Judith Hill didn’t make the cut!

How many of my readers watch, vote and tweet for their favorite contestant on The Voice? I know I do! How many people were surprised that Judith Hill was not saved by America’s votes on Monday night? I was and I wasn’t. A Rolling Stone article can help explain why she was eliminated from The Voice.

“However, she made a risky move by picking will.i.am's latest lukewarm single "#thatpower" – and the funky, futuristic performance clearly didn't connect with the audience. Also, in general, artists who are seen as too polished or professional often don't do well on reality singing competitions once viewers have a say, since said viewers seem to think someone less experienced deserves the win. It's a sad loss for the show, as Judith had the type of vocal chops and stage presence that should really be rewarded by such a competition, but it wasn't meant to be,” (http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/videos/the-voice-recap-judith-hill-sarah-simmons-cut-in-shocking-elimination-20130529#ixzz2UjXdp2eI, Kroll, K, May 29, 2913).

To see recap of the elimination ad read the article which reviews and critiques/explains in great details why America choose not to save both Sarah Simmons and Judith Hill, click this link http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/videos/the-voice-recap-judith-hill-sarah-simmons-cut-in-shocking-elimination-20130529.

The Hangover Part III…They Did it Again!

As a trilogy that started out great, The Hangover, was hilarious.A blowout Las Vegas bachelor party turns into a race against time when three hung-over groomsmen awaken after a night of drunken debauchery to find that the groom has gone missing, and attempt to get him to the alter in time for his wedding. In 48 hours, Doug is scheduled to walk down the aisle, effectively ending his reign as a rowdy bachelor. Realizing that this is their last blowout with their best friend, Doug's groomsmen organize a Sin City bachelor bash he'll never forget. The next morning, the groomsmen come to in their Caesar's Palace suite to find a tiger in the bathroom and a six-month-old baby tucked away in the closet. Unfortunately, Doug is nowhere to be found. With no memory of the previous night's transgressions and precious little time to spare, the trio sets out in a hazy attempt to retrace their steps and discover exactly where things went wrong. Will they find Doug in time to get him to the wedding back in Los Angeles, or will his bride experience the sharp sting of disappointment when she walks down the aisle to discover that her future husband is nowhere to be found? Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, and Heather Graham star in a rambunctious comedy from Old School director Todd Phillips. ~ Jason Buchanan" (http://www.fandango.com/thehangover_v420157/plotsummary, Rovi).

Hangover part II was also very funny, however, I would recommend skipping The Hangover Part III. There were some moments of brief humor, however, at times it had to be forced ad it wasn’t want you would expect from this trilogy. Simply put, they would have stopped with the second movie. This movie had enough humor, and people enjoyed themselves.

What were your thoughts on the movie?

New Immortals: Which Artists Top the List?

Back in 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine started The Immoral list, for the 100 Great Artists of all time.
“The essays on these top 100 artists are by their peers: singers, producers and musicians. In these fan testimonials, indie rockers pay tribute to world-beating rappers (Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig on Jay-Z), young pop stars honor stylistic godmothers (Britney Spears on Madonna) and Billy Joel admits that Elton John "kicks my ass on piano." Rock & roll is now a music with a rich past. But at its best, it is still the sound of forward motion. As you read this book, remember: This is what we have to live up to,” (http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/100-greatest-artists-of-all-time-19691231).

As for a comparison, some of the “classic” artists in the 2004 edition included Elvis Costello at 80, The Beastie Boys at 77, Aerosmith at 59, Simon and Garfunkel at 40, Johnny Cash at 31, and Ray Charles at 10 (http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/100-greatest-artists-of-all-time-19691231/ray-charles-20110420). To see #1 click on the link and comment on your reaction.

As for the New Immortals, 14, is Taylor Swift, no surprise there, “Swift grew up obsessed with the Dixie Chicks on a Christmas tree farm in rural Pennsylvania; she started writing songs at 14 before moving to Tennessee. It didn't take her long to conquer the Nashville machine – or to break out of it,” (http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/the-new-immortals-20130305/taylor-swift-19691231).

Lady Gaga or should I say, Stefani Angelina Germanotta, made the ranks at 10 (http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/the-new-immortals-20130305/lady-gaga-19691231). Others on the list include Beyonce at 9, Rihanna at 7, and The Strokes at 3 (http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/the-new-immortals-20130305/lady-gaga-19691231).
